Your hearing is an essential part of how you experience the world around you, whether it’s the voices of your loved ones, the music you enjoy, or just the sound of birdsong and rain outside. If you’ve started feeling a little isolated or are no longer enjoying these experiences like you used to, hearing loss may be an explanation. The good news is that most hearing loss can be treated with hearing aids.
When you make a healthcare decision, you must entrust your hearing to someone who truly cares about every patient and who will treat you like a member of their own family. Becker Hearing Center is a family-owned business led by the most experienced audiologist in North Mississippi, which means our patients can count on a personal touch and the professional expertise to find the right solution for you. We are here to answer every question and provide you with all the information you need to make a decision. We will never pressure you into a purchase. Our goal isn’t to sell hearing aids – our goal is for you to be able to say we’ve made a difference in your life and the life of your family, and we’ll do everything we can to support you and your hearing.
Your first appointment
When you arrive, you’ll be greeted by one of our friendly receptionists who will help you feel at ease and at home. Everyone who works in our office loves people, and we love what we do because we get to help people every single day. That warmth and friendliness is part of who we are, and you’ll feel it the moment you walk in our door.
Then our audiologist, Alan Becker, will call you back for your appointment. We’ll ask you about yourself, the problems you’ve noticed, and what kind of solution you may be looking for. It’s very important that we listen to you and consider what you want. Once we’ve learned a little more about your hearing history and health, we will take a look inside your ears and then do a complete hearing evaluation (an audiogram). We use a video otoscope (a diagnostic tool) that allows you to see inside your ear at the same time we do, and we’ll point out anything we notice so that you understand what you’re seeing.
Throughout your entire appointment, we try to explain every step along the way. We also encourage you to speak up if you don’t understand something and ask any questions of your own. We want to make sure that you feel confident when the time comes for you to make a decision about your hearing.
